HISTORY OF RESEARCH
ON PREPARATION
Product information
QUUS is the first veterinary use case of OATin Technology and our beta glucan isolate in veterinary medicine.
The idea was born during one of the evenings in which members of the not-yet-named team decided to use a beta glucan isolate to prevent disease in animals. Horses were selected because of their high sensitivity to their environment and living conditions. Then, based on publicly available research, horse stomach ulcers were selected as the first problem the team decided to tackle.
Subcontractor selection
The development of the final product required a lot of research and the selection of the right partners. Prof. Artur Niedzwiedz’ knowledge, experience and his high ability in constructive cooperation determined the choice of Wroclaw University of Life Sciences as a subcontractor.
First recipes
During the course of the project work, several formulations were developed both based on the beta glucan isolate from oat GF2050 and other forms of bran, as well as its derivatives containing beta glucan (in a non-isolated form). At the same time, partial results were also published in the November issue of the journal Veterinary Field Science.
Start of testing
We put the finished product in the hands of testers in 2023. Although QUUS was originally intended to be a product only to support the treatment of gastric ulcers in horses, it turned out that the results showed the possibility of eliminating gastric ulcers without pharmacological support at the Level I and II. In July of the same year, the product received permission to enter the market.
Starting in September, we launched a pilot campaign with selected veterinarians. In December 2023, we launched limited direct sales of our product.
